Garden Games aren’t just for Summer!

Do you ‘Shut up Shop’ on your garden as soon as the BBQ season is done and the furniture has been covered for the Winter?

We used to, but since we got Isabelle a playhouse for her birthday we’ve been using it as much as possible. We don our coats, hats and a cuppa for me and off we go. As long as the weather is dry we try and go outside if only to feed the birds.

That was until the Postman knocked at the door a couple of weeks ago and delivered us an amazing sandpit!

Since our holiday in the summer, Isabelle has reverted to a total beach babe and loves nothing more than building sandcastles, pouring water into sand, digging holes and even having the odd taste.

As you can see she was having a whale of a time.

The Sandpit is really sturdy and comes with a floor sheet and cover for when it’s not in use. Isabelle is only two years old, but the sandpit is sizeable enough to fit two chunky toddlers or children in and have enough room to play. It’s quite deep so takes a fair few bags of sand, but more sand means more fun. Isabelle is desparate to have her friends over so that they can build sandcastles and has been asking to go to the beach for some shells to put in her ‘little beach’.

As well as the amazing range of Sandpits including this Wig-wam Sandpit they have a great choice of Garden Games, Playhouses, Climbing Frames and Trampolines. The Teen is desparate for a Giant Jenga to even out the fact that the garden has become a toddler playgound. To create your own Toddler Playground pop over to www.gardengames.co.uk.

* Thank you to www.gardengames.co.uk for sending us the Hexagonal Sandpit for the purpose of review.

What a past week we’ve had! For the most part it was nice with our usual comings and goings, but the weekend took an unfortunate dip and we ended up at the local NHS Walk-in Centre with our two year old. I spent the most part of Monday desparately trying to catch a wee sample, which if you’ve ever tried to do is almost impossible, and still not ticked off the list.

Sorry, I lost my way there for a moment. Right onto the C words being Competitions and Christmas. I was thrilled to be told at the end of last week that I’d won a Leapster Explorer which I’m so excited to get.

To help a bit with the Crimbo shopping or maybe the sales there’s a chance to win a £20 Voucher to spend at Yellow Moon over at All Baby Advice.

Get your house Spick and Span with this Dr Beckmann Hamper over at the Mini Me’s and Me.

I would love to go to the Country Living Christmas Fair in Harrogate. Lucky for you, there’s a chance to Win a Pair of Tickets over at The Angel Eden Blog.

Win a MAM Starter Set from Adventures of a Yorkshire Mummy.

And I couldn’t let this one pass by without a mention. For a chance to Win an imprinted Silver Pendant (Medium) from Sol Solis Jewellery pop across to Mummy Mishaps.

As always, Good Luck x

It’s Christmas Fayre Time!

Argh it’s that time of year again. We have the first of our Christmas Fayres this Sunday. I already feel a bit Christmassy which doesn’t usually kick in for at least a couple more weeks. However, this could be more to do with the excitement brewing for our upcoming Christmas Advent Calendar which, like an Advent Calendar will not be opened until the 1st December, but more to come on that another day.

So if you live in and around the Exeter area or visiting us ‘down in the South’ these may be of interest to you.

Sunday 25th November – Christmas Family Day for Bumps, Babies, Toddlers and Children.
10am – 4pm – Exeter Phoenix, Gandy Street, Exeter
20 Local quality stalls of beautiful gifts, clothes, books and toys with a Sensory room themed for Winter. As well as activities all morning including tasters from antenatal and baby groups, bouncy castle/soft play and face painting.  Meet experts and advisors in parenting issues such as breastfeeding, real nappies, slings, nutrition and play.

Sunday 2nd December – Methodist Church Pre-School Christmas Fete
2pm – 4pm – Cowick Street, Exeter
This is in support of the local playgroup that Isabelle attends with the usual Christmas Raffle, Mince Pies and local sellers. Maybe an appearance from the big man (which on this occasion will be Father Christmas).

Saturday 8th December – Exeter Baby and Children’s Market
9.30 – noon – St James School, Summer Lane, Exeter, EX4 8NN
I love these markets. It’s a mixture of local sellers and pre-loved stalls. Always lots of hustle and bustle, but all in all a great day for us as sellers and lots of happy Mummy’s and Daddy’s. £1 entry(Children Free)  with FREE Minch Pies for the first 50 visitors and a FREE gift for children Under 5.

I can’t wait for these and can hopefully pick up some gifts for friends and family along the way.

If you do come, please pop along and say hello x

Baby Comp Weekly 06.11.12

Well I’m back at my day job now which isn’t too bad as it’s what I’m used to. I only wished that I’d kept my week off last week a secret to some as it ended up being far busier than I’d wanted especially as we wanted potty training to be top of the list.

Here are some great comps that we found. First up is the chance to win a Kurio Tablet which look so cool over at Mummy Bird.

Win a Copy of Disney’s Peter Pan on Blu from the Joanne Mallon Blog.

Win an Ernie the Fireengine over at One Pink One Blue Blog.

And for a chance to Win a copy of The Little Princess Christmas Special DVD head over to All Baby Advice.

Firework Fun

How did you spend your Bonfire Night?

We went to a local firework display which was organised by a local school. Ive always wanted to go and watch the Tar-barrelling in Ottery St Mary, but the crowds are rather off-putting with Isabelle being so young.  The display itself was ok it just wasn’t long enough (10 minuts) and that pretty much called an end to the whole event. Isabelle was happy until the fireworks to which she hid herself in Daddy’s coat and only came out now and again for the tiniest of peeks.

And as you can see (this was a happy pre-firework Isabelle) she was kept nice and warm in her BSnug Pink Pom Pom Hat. Look pretty cute too!

My photographs of the actual fireworks are shocking so I decided not to add them. Hope you all had fun wherever you went or whatever you did.

Halloween Fun

Do you partake in the halloween antics? I know it’s not for everybody, but we do like it in our house.

Our eldest who is now 13 is far too cool and grown-up to enjoy anything as childish as decorating, pumpkin carving or trick or treating, and the youngest only being two is a bit young for the most part. She did, however go to a lovely party on Monday dressed as a very scary spider.

She also really enjoyed helping me carve the pumpkin, especially putting her hands in the gooey guts!

We had to of course girlify our pumpkin and we named her Pumpkilina (after Angelina the Ballerina of course).

Isabelle was very excited to see the Trick or Treaters come to the door in their array of costumes. She particularly liked a group of friendly witches and handed over chocolate and sweeties, only to ask if she could have some of theirs from their bulging halloween bags.

All was well until a group of older boys in Scream masks came to the door which she really didn’t like and burst into tears. They were very sweet and quickly took off their masks and apologised. I gave them extra sweets for being so lovely, and that was it for Little Misses door opening.

Hope everybody had an enjoyable halloween whatever you were doing.
